Microsoft wants Yahoo!

February 1, 2008

I’ve read today from CNN News that Microsoft bids $44.6B for Yahoo! The following are the bits of the story:

Technology giant Microsoft said Friday it had offered to buy Internet search engine operator Yahoo with a cash and stock bid worth $44.6 billion. Yahoo shares have lost around 30 percent of their value in the past year. The $31-a -share offer represents a 62 percent premium for shareholders above the closing price of Yahoo stock on Thursday, Microsoft said in a statement.

read the rest of the story here: http://edition.cnn.com/2008/BUSINESS/02/01/microsoft.yahoo/index.html

I think this might happen, Yahoo! might give up to this offer of Microsoft. I also read that Yahoo! might lay-off a lot of workers which is an indication of not-so-good-business. Well if Yahoo! and Microsoft will merged, it will be both good news and bad news. Good news for us, web designers, SEO, and ordinary users, because of the different possibilities and new features the Microsoft and Yahoo! might offer. Bad news or i should i say a great challenge for Google. It will be two giants againts one (vs. Google) over the net and of course the winner will be us users. I hope so! :)

DesktopBSD 1.6 Released

January 30, 2008

Yesterday I was planning to install OpenSuse 10.3 on my 3rd 20Gig hard disk because I started to be annoyed by slow start-up of my current operating system. Before I started the installation, I browsed and visited Freebsd.org to see updates on one of my favorite operating system. Actually, I use FreeBSD 6.x on almost all of my projects that requires a file server. I was hoping that FreeBSD 7.0 might be released so I will use it but version FreeBSD 7.0 is still on testing stage. Instead I found out that DesktopBSD 1.6 was released this January 2008. DestkopBSD is a desktop operating system based on FreeBSD.

So I downloaded the .ISO installer of the DesktopBSD (i386). I chose the DVD installer which is about 1.5 gigabytes because it contains the complete package of the OS. I planned to use CloneDrive program to extract the image installer so I can start the installer under Windows. I was thinking that it’s the same with OpenSuse 10.3 that contains a windows installer but unluckily it doesn’t have. You need to boot it in DVD so I need to burn it. Well, My problem is I can not install it because I don’t have a DVD Reader/Writer so I can’t use it. For the meantime I’ll use OpenSuse. I’ll install it right now, if I can buy a DVD Reader/Writer later, I’ll try to use DesktopBSD instead.

Plastic Surgeon

January 29, 2008

Are you looking for a certified and reliable plastic surgeon in your place that will do the facial plastic surgery procedures for you like the chemical peels and rhinoplasty procedure? Well, I found a website that allows you to search for plastic surgeons from different US states. The site is the AAFPRS.org.  Through this site, you can search for any certified plastic surgeons in you area by clicking the state from the map that the site provided or by simply specifying the zip code of the place. The site also contains different information on plastic and reconstructive surgery, difference between facial and general surgeons and pictures of patients with successful facial plastic surgery procedures.

The AAFPRS or American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is the world’s largest specialty association that represents over 2,700 facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons throughout the world who have undergone extensive training to perform plastic and reconstructive surgery of the face, head and neck. The AAFPRS is a member of National Medical Specialty Society of the American Medical Association (AMA), and holds an official seat in both the AMA House of Delegates and the American College of Surgeons board of governors.

Hope you find what you’re looking for. Good luck!
